“Your Liver Talks — Are You Listening?”
Every week in my clinic, I meet patients worried after seeing deranged LFTs on their reports.
Let me simplify this for you —
Liver Function Tests (LFTs) aren’t just numbers — they are your liver's way of calling for help or reassurance.
High SGPT, SGOT, Bilirubin, or low Albumin — these aren’t random.
They tell a story:
Of how your liver is coping with your lifestyle, alcohol, fatty liver, infections, or medications.
But remember —
Abnormal LFT doesn’t always mean cirrhosis!
Normal LFT doesn’t always mean a healthy liver!
That’s why context matters.
We read LFTs like a storybook — considering your symptoms, risk factors, and ultrasound findings.
Early detection saves lives — especially in silent killers like NAFLD, Hepatitis B, or Alcoholic Liver Disease.
My Take-home Advice:
-
Do regular LFTs if you have risk factors
-
Never ignore persistently abnormal reports
-
Meet a Liver Specialist early — not late
