Dr. Chetan Kalal is a Consultant Hepatologist and Liver Transplant Physician practising in Mumbai, India, and the first physician in Maharashtra to hold the DM (Doctorate of Medicine) qualification in Hepatology — India's highest postgraduate clinical degree in the specialty. He consults at Breach Candy Hospital, P.D. Hinduja Hospital (Khar), and Gleneagles Saifee Hospital, Mumbai. His clinical practice centres on the management of Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF), steatotic liver disease (MASLD/MASH), refractory ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, portal hypertension, and the evaluation of candidates for liver transplantation. Dr. Kalal is the architect of the RESTORE Framework, a protocolised ICU pathway for ACLF management. He is affiliated with the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) and contributes to hepatology education across the Maharashtra region.
